Challenge
Challenge
Robert and I have spent a lot of time with guilds, and there are some wonderful people in these organizations. Whether you are in a guild or not, this CHALLENGE should get your creative juices flowing.I receive many photos of great things that people have done with our designs. It makes me feel good when I see people use our work to fit into their homes or to be given as gifts for special people in their lives. We have watched “Show & Tell” at many guild meetings, and have seen the pride on the faces of the people displaying their work to fellow members and friends. In creating our Charity Blocks, we wanted to give you something a little different, because that is what we are about. You have access to hundreds of traditional designs, and although we have brought a traditional feeling into some of the 17 blocks that we are starting out with, we have also given you something that you don’t see on every website and in every store. We want you to be a little different and stand out!!
For this challenge, I am giving you some examples, one that was sent to me by a lady in San Salvador of curtains she had made for her kitchen from our “For The Birds” place mat set. This Challenge will be 6 months, and winners will be announced the middle of August, 2011. Winning entries, along with the names of the winners will be shown in fall 2011 issues of The Quilter and Australian Patchwork & Quilting with my ads. Create a Charity Block. It can be 12” square as ours are, or 18” square. It can be pieced, using our techniques (no paper piecing), or it can be appliqué.
After your block is created, we would like to see you pull it into a small quilt design, or any kind of project. Use your imaginations. “What can I do with this for my home, as a gift for someone, or for my favorite charity?” Look at the Pinwheel quilt taken from our 12” square Pinwheel Charity Block. Great for “Quilts Of Valor”, right? In thinking of this challenge, you might keep in mind what it might do to benefit others, no matter how small. Embellishment is fine too, and can be delightful! We will want to see photos first and then narrow the entries down. At that point, we will ask for finished projects so that we can photograph them and give you all of the credit that you deserve. Your completed projects will be returned to you after we photograph them. We strongly encourage our quilting friends in other countries to submit entries.
All designs must be original, and will become the property of Pam Bono Designs, Inc. for only one reason. They will be displayed and publicized and will be put on our website as FREE patterns for all of our members to enjoy. None of them will be sold or used for profit. We retain the right to edit the designs so that they are in an understandable format.
Email your photos to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or mail them to: Pam Bono Designs, Inc. P.O. Box 5575 Athens, GA 30604 U.S.A. Please be sure that we have your name, email address, mailing address and phone number in case we need to contact you. A short description of your design or a short story about it would be welcomed. Susan, Robert, Dallas, Jeremy and I will judge the entries. Can’t wait to see them!! The Incredible Hulk will not be judging this contest unless the block is a Bulldog, then he will get to see it and sniff it!
Below are some examples of how to get those creative juices flowing!!!
